Whenever I complete a Whole30, I always have emergency snacks on hand. The snacks I’m sharing today are on the go emergency snacks that you can just grab and go without needing to keep refrigerated. I rarely need them, but I like to have them just in case I’m in a situation where I won’t have access to a full meal any time soon. I like to keep the fruit & but bars and the date nut butter with me when I know I’m going to be doing lots of physical activity or going hiking. If you are currently on a Whole30 or are planning to complete a Whole30, I recommend that you purchase a few emergency snacks just in case! There are plenty of compliant options for snacks in grocery stores, like dried fruit and other fruit and nut bars, but these are the emergency snacks I personally purchase myself. The key to making sure a snack is compliant is reading the ingredients! If you’re looking to purchase some Whole30 emergency snacks, never put it in your cart without reading the ingredients! Also, if you’re ever unsure of an ingredient or snack being compliant, you can search it on google and some whole30 forums will pop up. The forums are really helpful when you’re unsure if something is compliant or not! If you want to check the ingredients for any of the snacks I’ve listed, just click on the name of the product and the website will open up. Let’s get to it!
Meat snacks are definitely my favorite emergency snack of choice! I much prefer having a protein based snack over a sweet fruit and nut type of bar. There are lots of different options out there, whether it’s jerky or in a bar form. Be careful because jerkies and meat bars can have weird ingredients and sugar in them. Remember, always check your labels! Here are some jerkies and meat bars that are Whole30 compliant.

Nuts and nut butters are my second favorite emergency snack to have on hand. They are filled with healthy fats and really keep me feeling full if I ever do need a snack. Here, I mention a few nut butters that are compliant, but there are many other compliant options out there that you can find. When you’re buying a nut butter, make sure there is no sugar, no weird oils, and no peanuts in the ingredients list. I like buying the packets because they’re much more portable and are already portioned out for you. I’ve also listed the RX Bar nut butter here, but keep note that this one does contain 1/2 a date. This sweetens it a little, so if you feel that you’re satisfying a sweet craving with it, stay away from it. When you’re buying any nuts, make sure that they are raw, dry roasted, or that they use a compliant oil for the roasting process. There are also lots of nut options out there, so pick and choose what you like! I like to buy the bag of nuts and portion them out myself into little baggies.

RX Bar Nut Butter
Justin’s Almond Butter
Artisana Organics Raw Nut Butters
This brand also sells delicious coconut butter already portioned out for you that is also compliant! I don’t have a picture but I will link it below.
Archer Farms
These fruit and nut bars are my third favorite emergency snack. I like to keep the kid RX bars on hand since they’re smaller than the regular version. These are not my first choice when I’m needing a snack because they’re pretty sweet. If I have absolutely nothing else on hand, then I will reach for these! The RX Bars do contain natural flavors, which I’m not the biggest fan of. Since I don’t eat these very often, I still purchase them because I know I won’t be constantly eating them. If I ever do need to eat one, I’m okay with it and won’t be freaking out because I ate natural flavors. If you want a cleaner option, you can go with the lemon Epic performance bar. Whichever bar you go with, just make sure you are not eating them to satisfy any sugar craving because they can easily be candy bar replacements for people! If you are one that is really active or loves to go on long outdoor adventures, these bars are great! When you’re purchasing any fruit and nut bar, make sure there is no added sugar, that they use only 100% chocolate, and that there are no peanuts!
